KENZO TANGE
1913-2005
Kenzo Tange was a Japanese architect who was influenced by swiss modernist, Le Corbusier, and gained international recognition in 1949 when he won a competition for his design of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, built in remembrance for the war. Known as one of the most significant architects of the 20th century, Tange combined the traditional Japanese style with modernism and went on to produce the designs for distinctive buildings around Tokyo and all over the world. Tange was also an influential patron of the metabolism movement.
